Welcome to the Barcelona Hiking and Outdoors Group! If you're new to Meetup, fear not. Meetup is a social networking site that brings folks of like interest together. It's the venue that connects us, the group, with you, the hiker. This way we have a great way to find hikes, find people to join our own hikes, and have fun.

Some people in our group are members of some catalan hiking associations, FEDME (spanish hiking federation), FEEC (catalan hiking federation) and former members of DAV (Deutsche Alpen Verein - German Alpine Association).


What is this group?
This group is a virtual space where mountain and outdoors sports fans can get in contact with other fans. The Organizer and the Assistant Organizers are responsible for the content of this page, for the harmony of the group, for posting events with certain frequency that allow the members to meet other members and also get involved in events to protect the environment.
The Organizers are in no case guides or professional of any mountain sport. It is responsibility of every member to evaluate if they are capable to join an event.
Our main activity is to plan hiking and outdoor events, but also rock climbing, visits to wine cellars and beach volley. Sometimes other social events are posted to allow members to meet other members.


What is not this group?
This group is not a club or hiking association, therefore it cannot offer what these types of associations usually offer. Our group is in contact with the hiking club MadTeam, that offers the chance to get federation licenses (by FEEC) that include an insurance for outdoor activities. This group is not a travel agency or a company or organization with the goal of doing business.
