If you missed the first edition or if you want to go again and do something a bit more challenging!

Join this weekend in Sierra de Guara (Huesca) for Canyoning!

The plan is to leave early on Saturday, do a Canyon on that day and stay in a refuge the night of Saturday. On Sunday depending on what you want some could do another Canyon, hike or relax in the village of Alquezar.

We will hire all the technical gear and a guide there, cost around 50€ each Canyon.
For the Canyons we will need:

  • Swimsuit
  • Towel
  • Trainers (that you do not mind getting wet)

You can check the refuge and its services here: (in Spanish and French)

Escuela-Refugio La Era

Refuge costs 15,80€ and 20€ with breakfast.

We are going by car.

Cars

  • Jaime: 4 places
  • Sylvia: 4 places
  • Josep M: 4 places
  • Irene: 4 places

16 is the maximum number of people. Canyoning is limited to groups of 8 people, so we would make two groups.

Petrol costs aprox. 60 EUR. The car driver is responsible for requesting the costs of his/her passengers.

On Saturday night, we normally go out to a restaurant as a group and menu prices generally range from 20-30EUR/person. Afterwards, those who have the energy tend to go and have some drinks at a local bar. This has normally been the trend on the weekend hikes, so you should be prepared to bring with you the right amount of cash to pay for everything if you plan to take part in these activities.

We'll meet at Palau Reial (Av. Diagonal / Tinent Coronel Valenzuela). You can see the location here.

BEGINNERS ARE ALLOWED: Better if you are reasonably fit but for sure you should know how to swim!!! smile

We will not wait at the meeting point longer than 15 minutes. The schedule is very important this time.

If the event is full and you'd like to join it, join the Waiting List, including a comment telling that you wish to come and if you have a car for how many people. I will change your RSVP to Yes in case there is any free room.

And rule 3 explains the consequences if a member has RSVP'd Yes and does not attend an event, without changing his/her RSVP to No.

Rule 2.10 of the membership rules: For events during more than one day, the Organizer can require an inscription fee of at least 10 EUR. This fee will be used to cover part of the costs if the member shows up. If the member cancels his/her participation without a major issue, he/she will lose this fee (it will be used to cover additional costs or Meetup.com costs). This way it will be avoid that people join an event without knowing if they are going to attend the event or not.

I agree with Susan. There should be harder consequences for people who block a space for weeks and then just don't show up at the meetup. There are other people who would like to go. Maybe we should have a pre-payment/deposit like when we go skiing. This way at least the people take it more seriously.

Thanks for the organisation. Maybe the people who cancelled last minute and didn't show up without notification had a good reason. But requested was no to cancel on Wednesday and if not showing up without notification do remember you are making people wait and spend more.
Please remember that the organisers do this out of their own free will and time! Others would have liked to be there as well and could have made it.
